It’s not everyday when a drama leaves a terrible taste in the mouth but is still praised by viewers. MBC’s Angry Mom began on March 18, telling the story of Jo Kang Ja (Kim Hee Sun), who finds out that her daughter (Kim Yoo Jung) may be getting bullied at school. The more surprising fact was that no one was willing to help address the issue and uncover the truth, pointing fingers at an existing issue in the Korean education system. Viewers watched the first episode with much anger and shock as many of the issues that were brought up in the drama were similar to those seen on primetime news or read about in newspapers. While the drama did not debut at first place, Angry Mom received 7.7 percent in ratings, coming in at second. Anticipation is on the rise to see how this story will unfold and what painful truths will be revealed. Wednesday, March 18, 2015 Dramas 1. KBS Unkind Women 12.1 3. MBC Angry Mom 7.7 4. B1A4′s Baro showed his determination for the upcoming drama, Angry Mom. Appearing in MBC′s new drama, Angry Mom, Baro stated through MBC on March 12, "Because Angry Mom is a project I′m doing in a while, I′m very worried. I′m filming with a lot of fun and the atmosphere is great, so I′m grateful. I have good feelings about it." In Angry Mom, Baro will act as Hong Sang Tae, the son of CEO Hong. He pretends to be a model student, but actually holds the power to control even the class bully. "Hong Sang Tae is very cold. Even when I see him, I don′t like him and think he sucks," said Baro. "Angry Mom′s Sang Tae isn′t good at expressing himself. If there′s someone he likes, he watches from afar. These kind of things is exactly how I am." "Perhaps that′s why, but there are a few scenes where I watch Ah Ran (Kim Yoo Jung) from afar, and when I act these scenes, I am most comfortable and can act naturally." Baro added that he′s excited to act with a lot of actors around his age, like Kim Yoo Jung and After School′s Lizzy. "I haven′t actually acted with them yet, so I don′t know, but I have a feeling we′ll interact really well. Lizzy is a friend that I went to Brazil with for Infinity Challenge, so we′re good. And Yoo Jung is someone I know well from Immortal Song 2." "Yoo Jung is younger than me, but a senior when it comes to acting. I think she′s amazing for just acting really well. I′m learning from Yoo Jung′s concentration." Regarding Angry Mom, Baro stated, "It′s the third step in my growth. It′s my third project, and when I′m done with Angry Mom, I will be a more developed Baro." Meanwhile, Angry Mom is about a young mother with a colorful school past, who returns to high school to face the social issues of Korean Education. The first episode will air on March 18. Q. We’re interested in your thoughts on being cast in [Angry Mom]. Because I haven’t been part of a project in a while I have worries. I need to have the same sense from when I acted a lot. (laughs) Filming is fun and the atmosphere is good so I am relieved. I have a good feeling about it. Q. How is your chemistry with Kim Yoo Jung, Lizzy, and other fellow cast? I haven’t really acted with them enough yet. (laughs) I think we work well together. With regards to Lizzy we cheered together in Brazil for [Infinite Challenge] so we have good chemistry. I met Yoo Jung during ‘Immortal Song 2′. She is younger than me but a sunbae in acting; I’m amazed because she acts so well. From Yoo Jung I am learning how to really focus. Q. [Angry Mom] Co-star Kim Hwee Sun is a top-star. You must be nervous acting alongside of her? At first I thought, ‘What if I make a mistake in front of sunbae-nim’ so I got nervous every time I came on set. But now after spending time I see that she is a mood maker. She is easy-going, and has a great personality. Q. This is your third project. Including Sang-Tae from [Angry Mom], is there one character whose personality you relate to the most? I see bits of my personality in each of the three characters. Bingurae’s concerns in ‘Reply 1994′ and Young-Gyu’s playfulness and fearfulness in ‘Gods Gift’ reflect my personality. Sang-Tae from [Angry Mom] doesn’t express himself well; if he likes someone he’s the type to watch from afar, that’s exactly like me. Although it is acting, I am comfortable acting by watching Yoo Jung from afar. (laughs) Q. Now that I think about it, you are a singer but you act very well. Because you say that I feel like I would like to do better. If I am to rate my acting up until now I will say that I feel disappointed. If I was given another chance I could do so much better, so I feel some regret. I am trying harder in [Angry Mom] so I don’t feel that regret. I think that acting should be fun. Q. Do you have a particular method for committing to your acting? Do the B1A4 members help you in any aspect? I don’t have a specific ‘know-how’ for acting yet. But I do find it easy to learn my lines. I imagine a lot, and try to act according to that. By doing that I found it easier to memorize. Sometimes I watch movies by myself too. The B1A4 members are too busy to help me with my acting. But they are also the ones who cheer for me the most. Q. Is there a part of [Angry Mom] that you are looking forward to? Hong Sang-Tae in [Angry Mom] has a very picky personality. Even I find him ridiculous (laughs). I’m curious to see how he will change as the drama progresses. Also I hope that those who watch can relate to and be understanding of the school violence represented in [Angry Mom]. I personally have reflected a lot while reading the script. Q. What is your prediction for viewer ratings? Being a bit greedy here, average viewer rating of about 15%?(laughs) I would be happy if the first episode got 7~8%. Q. To Baro, what is [Angry Mom]? It is a third step that will help me really thrive. It is meaningful as my third project, and upon finishing [Angry Mom] I think I will be a better, more developed Baro. Survival, entertainment, music shows, sitcoms, and more, Perseverance Goo Haera is a hybrid genre drama that that satisfies the viewer’s variety of needs. On February 12 at a café in Gwanghwamun, Jongngo-gu, Seoul, the cast of Mnet’s Friday night drama Perseverance Goo Haera came for joint interviews. It included Director Kang Heejung as well as Min Hyorin, Kwak Siyang, B1A4’s Jinyoung, Shim Hyungtak, Park Gwangsun, Yoo Sungeun, and Seo Minji. Perseverance Goo Haera is a music drama that draws its story from the aftermath of the 2010 Superstar K2 audition. It is a sensuous love story about young people who love music and have a passion for it as well as growth, friendship, and love. In addition, there are selections of music that received a lot of love during the 1990s to the 2000s reinterpreted not only for teenagers and young people in their twenties, but for people of all ages. During the joint interview, Min Hyorin showed satisfaction and said, “I’m satisfied at how the music came out. Once the drama broadcast, people around me said the music was good and talked a lot about how the arrangements and reinterpretations are good. Since it’s a music drama, I worried on whether people would think that it was too weak. When the first and second episode premiered, people told me that the music was just as good.” Following that, she talked about the part that she wasn’t satisfied with, “There is a lot of good music out there. It’s regretful that a lot can’t be shown with the short time.” Director Kang Heejungn said, “Just for a short 2-3 minute thing, the cast had separate practices and received vocal lessons in order to fit the group of six” showing how in addition to acting, the actors were working hard musically as well. Also, “In the parts that have been filmed, there are parts that did not make it to broadcast. In the first episode, Kwak Siyang singing to ‘Good Person’ did not get aired. In the drama, Sejong is a person who is chic and cannot express his feelings well, but there are sweet parts that have been filmed. If the viewers would want that sometime, then I would like to reveal it” was said arousing the curiosity for the behind story. Perseverance Goo Haera is a twelve episode drama so it is now in the middle of the story. Director Kang Heejung said, “We wanted a drama with music to show the growth of young people who wanted their dreams to come true. The story of their growth will begin to unfold starting in the sixth episode.” It was also added, “Because there are limitations in a music drama genre, there will probably be people that look upon the show harshly. It seems like the viewers are getting used to our drama, there will be more music released and we will such a more aggressive look.” He then explained the watching point of the second act of Perseverance Goo Haera by stating, “There is Ray (Jinyoung) who is trying to address the entirety of his dead younger brother’s bucket list and there is Haera (Min Hyorin) who has feelings for Sejong (Kwak Siyang). Please expect the love story.” For the preview of the second act, Perseverance Goo Haera will revisit the popular songs of the past. And although it is a music drama, as Min Hyorin previously mentioned, there are also parts that are regretful. Will the seven remaining episodes of Perseverance Goo Haera be able to compensate for those regretful parts and create a music drama that matches the audience’s taste. Their story is gathering expectations. Perseverance Goo Haera is a music drama comes from the ‘Superstar K2’ crew that created the ‘Superstar K’ syndrome and tells the story what happens after that. Rejected from or for either appearance, personality, love, and other things, they started their challenge towards ‘Superstar K2.’ It is a story that combines fate and music into one. It broadcasts every Friday at 11:20pm. translation by: thesuitelife547 / original article B1A4’s Baro has been cast in MBC’s upcoming drama Angry Mom. I’ll wish to live with ‘Haera’ forever!!” Having an appearance and personality completely dissimilar from Sejong, he’s Sejong’s fraternal twin brother who’s always cheerful, smiley, and has a lot of aegyo. The first moment he saw Haera, at 10 years old, he thought fate was decided. He wished for only ‘Haera.’ At 13, ‘My Dream’ was written during school. The moment he saw the five letters in Haera’s notebook, ‘marry a singer,’ Sechan’s dream was decided. Become a singer, marry Haera. Although his IQ isn’t as high as his hyung’s, his EQ is high (his own claim); although studying is in the background, fortunately, he has a talent for music since he’s always the main vocal in the band club. Then, although Sechan has screaming girls chasing after him, Haera is oblivious of him! Sleeping or awake, it’s only Haera!!! So he even followed Haera to the same university with the same major, the practical music department at the National University of the Arts! Following Haera’s wish of ‘I want to get first place in Superstar K by singing Dad’s song,’ he joined Superstar K2. However since then. He slowly began to sense the subtle feelings between Haera and his hyung, Sejong…he thought no way. But on the Super Week stage, that no way…was realized to be a real thing. But no matter how valuable hyung is, as much as Haera is, he doesn’t want to lose it even if he dies. source: banasubbers / translation by: thesuitelife547 |
