The 16 episode SBS drama ‘God’s Gift’ has aired over half of its episodes, gaining the interest of many, and in the center is one person. It is the handicapped Younggyu, with the mind of a 6-year-old. B1A4 Baro is acting as Younggyu, who is always next to and comforts the daughter, Han Saetbyul (Kim Yoobin), of the main character Kim Soohyun (Lee Boyoung). Especially in the 9th episode which aired on March 31, the curiosity around Younggyu is incomparable to the 1st and 2nd episode. He’s such a good friend to Saetbyul that he is even called ‘Saetbyul sunflower.’ At times he has a blank face, and at other times he uses him bright laugh to silently show his varied character. This Younggyu, and that Younggyu, all are lovable. Shooting a ddeokbokki ‘eating broadcast’ Younggyu Firmly holding a wooden skewer, he eat ddeokbokki deliciously while making a ‘nom nom’ noise. It wouldn’t even be weird if on a home shopping commercial it said, ‘Younggyu ddeokbokki for four people, just 9,900 won!’ However this scene does not just compose of his ‘eating broadcast’. Younggyu (Baro) makes use of interesting words. Although in actuality he’s 15, with a mind of a 6-year-old he says, “Grandma is a liar.” “Daddy must have forgotten Younggyu. Younggyu wants to see daddy though.” His grandmother (Jung Hyesun) is the one who raised him, and the words he knows come from only his grandmother. It becomes evident that his feelings for his father (Jung Eunpyo), spending his years in jail, are different than Younggyu has for others. Younggyu wearing new sneakers The first thing that Younggyu said to Saetbyul’s mother Soohyun (Lee Boyoung), while being outside Saetbyul’s villa gate, was, “I didn’t play with Saetbyul”. While looking nervous and uncomfortable, his gaze and his body movements were natural. Starting from the 3rd, it was possible to see the person called Younggyu. Soohyun buys Younggyu, who is still wearing slippers during the cold winter, new sneakers, saying if anyone were to take Saetbyul away, he must stop it from happening, and he agrees, nodding. While confirming it with a pinky promise, Soohyun tells Younggyu ‘Sorry’. And for 2 seconds, on the screen is Younggyu’s face. The moment she apologizes, in Younggyu’s eyes there is no exact answer, no ‘It’s ok’ or ‘no, it’s not ok’. His expression seems conflicted and his gaze clouded over. From when he is able to make others imagine the feelings, the love for Younggyu grows. Younggyu protecting his grandmother Younggyu was still even when someone slapped him, but when he sees his grandmother being told off, he becomes a justice doer. He says, “Don’t do that to our grandmother,” and continues on saying, “You’re bad,” expressing himself and makes a definitive assessment of the other person. It’s a part where it shows that if his love for people he cares about, has nothing to do with his intelligence. Underneath his school gym clothes, he wear a red sweater (originally knitted by his real mother) given to him by Dongchan (Jo Seungwoo) and smiles brightly saying, “Uncle gave it to me”. He says after his dad and grandmother, he loves his uncle. and calls them his family. It could be said that the strength he had to protect his grandmother, was from his trust and belief in this thing called family. Like Superman’s red cape, it might be that for Younggyu his strength comes from his red sweater. Younggyu going to a ‘live broadcast’ with his friend Thinking that Saetbyul had made a new friend, Younggyu offers Saetbyul the ‘ultimate ddakji’ that Dongchan made, at the concert. All at once, Younggyu becomes a fan of the group Snake, following Saetbyul who is an extreme fan of one of the members Theo . After that, it’s not known how many times they went to public shows together, but Younggyu waits for Saetbyul on a raining day at the place where Snake’s show will be. Saetbyul, who was late to the show, says if they go to the parking lot they would be able to meet Theo, and they hurry along. Hearing that the show, which was originally cancelled, was resumed they head toward the performance, instead of the parking lot, and end up watching the show. Younggyu does whatever Saetbyul says, some of which include hiding in someone’s car, and secretly going to Theo’s house. If he was a regular kid, it would have been hard to do those things, but with Saetbyul things like those happen often. During this process, he has the sense to take care of the evidence picture that Saetbyul took.
